About St Kentigern
Kentigern's is a palliative care day and eight bed residential unit which provides medical and nursing care for patients together with social, emotional and spiritual support for themselves and their families. The need for a hospice was identified in 1986 and, after nine years of planning and fund-raising, was opened in 1995 by Sir Anthony Meyer. Work commenced in october 1999 on our next phase, the building of an 8 bedded residential extension, which opened in December 2000.
In St Kentigern Hospice anxieties are discussed, and symptoms are controlled. Everything is directed towards improving quality of life.
St. Kentigern's is very much a local community operation caring for people with life threatening illnesses.

Fundraising
The vast majority of the Hospice income is derived from fund-raising and donations. The hospice needs over £3/4 Million annually to continue its work and 85% of this needs to be raised each year. There are 6 support groups in our area who raise money and organise many fund raising events.
We also operate seven shops located in various local towns which sell donated items of clothing and bric a brac in support of the hospice.
All donations to the hospice, of whatever size, are greatly valued and are acknowledged personally.
It is only with the support and voluntary help of local people and business's that we are able to continue our
valuable work on behalf of everyone in the local community.
